Our achievements are:
Fisheries contributes to the needs of the people of Bangladesh, contributing to the needs of the nutrition of the people, employment, food security, poverty reduction and export earning are very important. About 60 percent of the country's animal protein comes from fish. 3.61 percent of our country's gross domestic product (GDP) has been achieved from the fisheries sector. This sector contribution to agricultural GDP is 24.41 percent. More than 11 percent of the country's livelihoods are directly or indirectly engaged in activities related to fisheries sector. In the year 2015-2016, about 75,338 Mt. of Fisheries and Fisheries products have been exported and foreign currency worth Tk 4.883 crore has been achieved. Fish production was 27.01 lakh MT in the 2008-09 fiscal year, there was 38.78 lakh MT of fish production in the 2015-16 fiscal year. The target of fish production in the year 2016-17 is 40.50 lakh metric tons. In the 2015-2016 fiscal year, the production of hilsa has increased greatly to 3.95 lakh mts and in the next 5 lakhs May It is expected that the ton will be upgraded. Hilsa is not only a country, it has been recognized as a GI product. Besides, Bangladesh is fourth in the world in the production of internal fish which is Amas's greatest success.
